Jerry was born and raised in Chicago. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Psychology from the University of Illinois in Urbana, Illinois. After some time spent in the Army and working with emotionally disturbed children, he attended graduate school at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan where he completed both Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Psychology. During this time, he engaged in lengthy research projects regarding the intellectual development of deaf children and regarding the attitudes and behavior of urban and suburban police.
After completing graduate studies, he returned to Chicago where he engaged in the practice of Clinical Psychology, specializing in working with children and families. After a few years of clinical practice, Jerry’s career took a turn into management and he held a number of senior general management positions in healthcare. He then left corporate management for a career in consulting to corporations. In 1981, he founded Anova Inc. through which he provides executive coaching, assessments, training and development, and strategic planning for a wide variety of companies.
Jerry has been a faculty member in the MBA program of the University of St. Francis where he taught courses in Strategic Business Management and in Quantitative Methods. He has been featured in several Who’s Who listings for his work with 360 degree feedback. He leads several boards of directors. He also serves as an advisor to numerous public services organizations.
He is married to Angela, a retired health care executive; they have three daughters ranging in age from 28 to 39.
